Which particular T56 are you talking about
As they are different thru the models (Commodore)
And the Ford boxes are different to the Commy ones

Basically... lots of tunnel cutting
Ask Jeff... the yank... he's got one in his hatch

Indeed...

I have the factory Camaro one behind my LS1.

Plenty of pics in the links from Datto... and for the clutch side of it, I just used a factory GM master cylinder that I modified in a few ways and use the stock quick release connection on the trans for the hose. Works perfect and pedal feel is just like driving a late model car.
For the speedo... I use an adaptor box that converts the electronic pulse signal to a mechanical speedo cable output and runs my factory dash perfectly. The box is very adjustable for gear ratio, tire size, etc and after a little trial and error I have it within a kay basically.
Shifter is a little further back than stock (for the shift box on top of the trans itself) but I just used a handle that bends forward a little bit and it comes through just in the correct spot.
I am using the factory console as well.
I did raise the center of the tunnel just over an inch (inch and half maybe?). Just enough to get some clearance and yet not too much I was not able to run the factory console. I also did trim a little bit of the floor crossmember but boxed everything back in again so it is still plenty strong.
Made my own trans crossmember as well.

The Supra W58 probably won't survive for long behind a 355. The R154 will handle the 355 but they can be hard to find.

The TKO 500 fits without tunnel modification but will cost around $6000 including flywheel, clutch, clutch setup and cross member. More details here.

The VY Commodore box fits better if you change the extension housing to a shorter housing. Mal Wood charges around $2300 to supply and fit the shorter extension housing and change the shifter position. The Mal Wood extension housing has both electronic and cable outputs. Then you will need clutch setup and cross member.

Standard Commodore Gearbox behind LS1 in UC Torana. It fits better behind a 355 as the crank on the 355 is typically lower than the crank on an LS1.

There are pictures in this thread of the Mal Wood modified T56 behind a 308. The car is owned by antelopeslr5000 .
