What is the difference between a XU6 motor and a L67?
The XU6 has 180kw while the L67 has between 165-170kw (depending on year). Is it worth forking out an extra $500-1000 for the XU6 motor over a L67?

Same basic engine, different exhaust/memcal i think. Not sure if they run an overdrive pulley as well. Was looking at buying a smashed VX XU6 to fit the motor into my VS ute, but there are several differences between VS Supercharged & VT-VY

Are they better differences? Is it worth paying extra for? Considering I would have to mod the exhaust to fit anyway

Mainly wiring loom & sensor location. If you're fitting to a Torana, most of the differences aren't an issue as you'll need custom exhaust, wiring loom etc.VS run a temp sender for the guage as well as a coolant temp sensor for the ECU, whereas VT-VY only have a coolant temp sensor as the guage gets it's signal from the ECU so be aware of this, if you use a VT-VY engine & want to run an aftermarket guage, you'll need to drill & tap a thread into the LIM for the sender. I'd still choose the later VX-VY engine as they're more likely to have lower kms. These engines suffer balance shaft wear in higher kms engines or poorly maintained engines & be aware that although similar in appearence to an N/A V6, they are very different & the L67 supercharger does not bolt onto the N/A engine.

From what i have learnt from the the main diffrence was in the memcal chip and exhaust. In saying that I have run two L67's, one with a 9lb capa snout and one with a five percent overdrive harmonic balancer and both performed much better than standard. I got rid of both cars before installing the memcal from the xu6 (which you can get from ebay about $180) but it was always on the wish list. Hope this helps.
