Why the hell would anyone want one of those old clunkers? ^_^

Yeah the old greys do have a nice note don't they? There was a youtube clip here somewhere of a grey powered midget that sounded absolutely lovely when he opened it up...

Edit: here it is http://www.youtube.c...h?v=nPQPuRo7vhk

There's nothing like the sound of a grey motor at 6000rpm's. They did well to keep the cranks in with only 4 main bearings.

We did one a couple of years back in an FC Ute with a 40/80 style camshaft, Jack Myers headers, and a side exit exhaust.

Sounded great.

The only problem is that you work the guts out of them and they'll still only go as good as a stockish 202. And like Warren says they are weak at high RPMs.

Cool though :)

You will get a grille and almost everything you need to get the car back on the road through www.fefcholden.org.au/forum

The front subframe outrigger and rear arms always rust but so do other areas, particularly bottom of A pillars, front floors, boot floors, inner and outers sills, headlight peaks, and doors.

I have restored four FCs and have had one since 1985 :D

This is the last one I did for a mate. Now sold and I think in Townsville?

What an awsome wagon,
Ive had a grey that spun to 6600 and would wind right off the clock in top gear, but the engine had huge ports jack meyer headers 179 valves and a bridged crank support setup with repco forged pistons.unfortuneatly i doubt id ever find gear like that at a price i could afford these days.it had a twin system and everyone would ask if it had a chev in it,no one would believe it was a 138 bored out under the hood so id have to show it

I heard through the grape vine that Barsby's have two good walk off front subframes,so ringing them tomorrow, easier to replace than weld up that mess

Looks like it may be. At the very least it's the same style manifold. Rare thing these days.

OLd blokes always love old engines Wayne ;-)

This is another one I did. FE this time. Engine bay detail and front end.

Paint was tidied up at my brothers work. New paint to engine and engine bay. This is a very nice car and drives perfectly.

Geeeez going back 20 odd years we had an old EK that had a hot grey motor in it. There was an old trotting track next door on our neighbors property so we used to race it around this like a speedway car. Was one of the best sounding motors ever........... Until the car fell over one day :(
