Just wondering on people's ideas about painting the insides of the oil sump. I have modified an oem pan and I want to paint the inside. Recommendations?

Wanting to know what people do. And if people do paint tem what is available. My sump will sit idle for a while. So if I am going to paint it rather that leave it raw I would ike to know what to use. I've heard people just leaving them an coating with moly bond dry lubricant

A dry lubricant would be much easier. The alternative you mention is mainly used on cast iron blocks to aid in oil drainback, due to the porosity of a hot engine block... Glyptal 1201 red engine enamel is the stuff, but has to be baked on in order to cure......

Why would you want to complicate your life by using any sort of coating at all in there? The benefits are miniscule (if they even exist at all) and don't go anywhere near outweighing the various ways in which it can all turn to shit. Wipe it out with an oily rag so it doesn't rust before it's fitted and spend your time researching more productive pursuits.

Pulled the sump off my car and I'm not sure it's original.... Was painted black inside and out. Initially it got covered with paint stripper the hit with the gerni, which did sweet f all....

Dropped it in our big paint stripper tank which is full of all kinds of nasty stuff.... And the paint had hardly budged...? After a wash down and dry some paint came off, hit it with the blaster which took a bit more off, but was a struggle... It's back in the effin stripper tank for the weekend....

Must be some sort of hardcore coatig on it??? That stripper tank smashes through paint and powder coat really well!!!

I would have left it on if it was that tough and just painted over the top.

once youd had one go at it though, you could never have been sure that it was 100%, so makes sense to persevere and get it all off.
