Wondering if any of you learned people could help me out. Most Torana websites list the white for the LH series as Cottillion White but I remember reading in Australian Muscle Car that it was Glacier White and that Cottillion was only used on the A9X P&A shells? Can anyone set me straight on this one?

I'm also wondering what colours were used on th MHDT '76 L34s & A9Xs. I've been told Tuxedo Black & Salamanca Red for both (but they look different to me), and Glacier White for L34, Cottillion White for A9X.

Any help would be appreciated with names & paint codes.

Galcier White was used on the LJ Torana. LH and LX used Cotillion White. LX SS A9X used Palais White. I have never seen a Cotillion white A9X.

Thanks for the info. I agree on the 'street' A9Xs being Palais white and that Glacier was an LJ colour - I know that for sure. I only recently read that the A9X race shells were Cotillion - I always assumed they were Palais. The Aus Muscle Car 'by the numbers' article listed Glacier white as the only white for the L34 but I assumed the list was for all LH's. Sure, they make mistakes but are better than most other magazines when it comes to facts. Could Glacier have been specific to L34? I don't know why they'd go to the trouble to do that.

Any idea on the MHDT race cars?

The race shells were mostly Palais white, same as the road cars, but a few special ones were painted in other colours and reflected on the tag.

As for the L34 race cars, Harry was never set on colours, he used what he had. If you compared the Harvey A9X from 77 to the 2 hatches built under John Sheppard, you would notice a big difference in the red because John Sheppard used Marlboro red.

I believe one of the L34's HDT used actually started life as Chrome yellow. The white could have been any colour also when Harry was running HDT. Remember, there were no special race version L34's like with the A9X. The first L34 actually went to Bob Morris BTW.

Anyway, I think if you went with Glasier white, tuxedo black and salamenca for the L34's, and Palais white, Marlboro red and tuxedo for the A9X you would be safe.
