Anyway, to kick off proceedings, I thought I would say hi and introduce the my new car. It's a good excuse to build a project car for the business, but ultimately it's a track car project that will bring me much joy.

The story so far:
This has been a long time coming. My last classic Holden, and my first car, was an HK Monaro. She was great, but met a grizzly death in 1999. My fault... I am still ashamed. But she's another topic, but you can read about her here
Where was I? So, one of my best mates spent the best part of 8 years building an LX 4-door. Originally a 6-cyl Auto, he decided to do something that would be good on the road, and fun on the track. He managed to get it built and on reasonably regular track days, until wife, kids, mortgage thing came along. The Torrie's last track day was at Oran Park - that gives you an idea of how long it's been!
So, when he decided to get rid of it, I stepped up to the plate.

So what's it got?
Well, the short of it is:
- strong 308 (60thou over bore, worked heads etc - not stroker - MORE DETAILS ON THAT TO COME).
- 5-speed Supra box
- Hydraulic clutch
- Suspension (full details to come, but tubular trailing arms, UC front end etc)
- HQ 4 wheel disc brake conversion
- 9in diff
- 80L drop take (flattened bottom for clearance)
- upgraded fuel pump in boot, water separater etc
- minilite wheels
- race seats
- full cage (rear welded with bolt in front section)
- etc

What's the plans?
So, as you might have guessed in the title of the thread, the aim is to turn it into a Two Minute Torana. The idea is to try and crack two minutes around Eastern Creek. It's very ambitious, considering it's not a race car. It's a solid track/road car, which jsut happens to be unregistered, so is a track-only car for a little while.
The first thing I need to do, I am sure you'll agree, is to get it on the track for a shakedown. But even before that, I need to get under her and have a good look at everything to make sure nothing is going to drop off at 200 clicks down the straight.
Once we get her on the track, I think the first points of call will be the brakes, suspension and tyres. Here's hoping all the running gear is good, and stays that way while I post some base times and start to play around with everything.
I will be BLOGGING this whole thing, and will keep this thread updated with the blogs. Getting a go-pro and a new video camera and starting filming soon. You can read the blog post from when I picked up the car last weekend here.
