These are the only electric pump I'd run on a street car. It should handle the 308 easily and you don't need to run a regulator or return line.
If you spend some time setting up some soft rubber mounts for it they can be very quiet as well.

I'm also a big Carter fan. Ran a Carter black (part number 4601) for years on my 383 Chev (approx 450HP), it ran high 11's. Certainly no fuel supply problems with that pump, and a standard dead-head Holley reg.

Quite a few mates run the same pump, and they're all happy. Definitely way quieter than Holley's. If you mount it right, and gravity feed it, you'll be fine.

i have one of these type of carter pumps
is a little noisy to start with but seems to quieten down after a few minutes
i looped the fuel lines at the inlet and outlet so fuel doesn't drain out of the pump when turned off
but is quieter than the holley i had before

I ended up getting a 4600HP carter pump and it seems to be having issues pump will only pump 3psi max pump is level with tank fuel lines are 1/2 inch from tank to fuel rail where my fuel guage is mounted i did have a hollet dead head reg fitted but removing it did nothing i have checked the filter and lines for blockages the pump sounds like it might be bypassing inside it has anyone had these kind of problems or should i have bought the wrong pump and should have got a carter black instead i need 6 to 8 psi for my engine combo

What on earth do you need 1/2" lines for, extra capacity...?

I have a 4070 which supplies the Quadrajet nicely with no additional reg or return line, I fitted it to fix a starvation problem with emptying the bowl and its been perfect ever since.

1/2 inch is the size I was advised to run for my engine besides thats not the issue the pump specs say 8psi I only get 3psi which dosent change with engine running or not running

Up to 8psi, would only rely on that giving 5 or 6 but does kind of sound like a dud. Maybe its mis-labelled and is one of the ones that is designed for really low pressure carbs like some sidedrafts...?

edit: unless your needle and seat isn't sealing properly?

I had the same issue with low pressure - the pump was mounted 16 inches above the tank.

But i ran a kit through it - see http://www.summitrac...ts/CRT-888-178/

and it is now around 7psi

Probably just needs to have the crap cleaned out of the relief valve and/or the rusty vanes cleaned up. These things normally just run forever, but like any pump they don't like gunk or water.
