Was asked tday what was the official GMH colour scheme for dealers. Went through all my dealer pics and have no clear idea. Looks like everyone pleased themselves.
Have a 1979 image with new VBs and the red plastic strip on white background with white lettering is evident. My next pic is back in the mid 1960s with nothing standing out.
Anyone help?

Hi Norm.

Good question.

From my observation there was no 'official' colour scheme in the early days. Most dealerships were just painted white with the various logos added, but this changed in the early 70s. When the new lion was introduced in 1974, GM-H standardised the look with the red background & white lettering. Most dealerships had the red facade built from red square plastic panels, with one panel featuring the lion symbol & the others carrying the dealer's name.

In the 90s (I'm sure I have the media release somewhere) they changed to the current burgundy scheme. This may have coincided with the new lion logo in 1994/95.

The current owner of the old dealership in Boyup Brook is currently trying to work out which red to use for the '70's-"80's.
