hi can any one help, my gear box is pretty tired and i was talking to another member of this forum who swears black and blue that he bolted a 6cyl aussie 4 behind his V8 by just using his V8 bellhousing and not changing the imput shaft. im no expert but as far as i can see the imput shaft wouldnt reach the sprigot bush and so the clutch wouldnt work properly if at all let alone the vibrations he would have with there being no support on the imput shaft with it not sitting in a sprigot bush

No way in Hell.

There are a few issues involved here.

1. input shaft length
2. Bellhousing would need to be a custom job to do it, but you will not have enopugh room for the clutch with such a short throw.
3. If using a adaptor plate to bolt a 6 beelhousing on you will find that the clutch would have to be down graded otherwise it would hit the bellhousing.

I am not saying it did nto happen but I am stating that it would be a tall feat and alot of custom parts.

The only thing I can think of in relation to 6cyl and v8 boxes is in the T5 range where a v6 T5 can be bolted on with a special bellhousing to a v8, or even a EA T5 ford box with a different input shaft. But not in teh aussie for speed range.

Cheers

Dellows in sydney do a bell housing for around $400 plus gst depending on your clutch arrangement.

I think he's confused. There are spacer adaptors available which allow a V8 box to be bolted into a 6 cylinder using the stock 6 cylinder housing, but fitting a 6 cylinder box to a V8 with standard bell housing - nope.
