I have a multifit Dellow housing (suits chev and aussie pattern), could this be the reason?
Anyhelp would be great as I don't know what to do.
Cheers

if you lift the body off the crossmember and fit the box up you should have enough clearance to swing the back of the box up and body down to make it fit but it will be bugger all.
but you'll never get it in or out normally as you can't swing a holden 8 in an Lc engine bay far enough

if your going to lift your motor that way you'd be better off putting a block of wood under the front of the sump so you don't stuff up the balancerJack it up under the harmoni balancer it will give u enough clearance just fitted my dellow bell housing yesterday had the same problem but i bent the linkages make sure to disconnect the linkage

To over come this take out the rear suspension to chassis bolts and back off the 4 chassis rail to crossmember bolts enough to loosen it.
This should give you enough room to work with.
Good luck
