hello fellow torana enthusiasts a while ago i put up a thread wondering if theres anything to watch out for while doing the blue 202 conversion into my lj at the moment shes running a red 202. Chopper told me of something about the baffles hitting the sump??? or something in that line and said someone had pics of what to do ?? anyone have pics on what is needed to be done ? also can i bolt up a set of tri ys suited for the efi system to the std carby manifold ?? what else is also needed for this conversion will a red aussie 4spd box bolt sraight up as well behind it all

ALL REPLIES ARE GREATLY APRECIATED!!!! CHEERS CHEVY :spoton:

I decided on a WADE 818 grind as it wasnt too lumpy and the power range is good for streeting. Also my head could do with more porting to get the extra flow needed for a larger cam. power range is about 4000-5500 rpm and I got larger valves and new heavy duty springs.

efi-202, i just cut 1/2 the lip off. Will that be enough to clear the blue crank? Engine is in the gtr, tell me it's enough.

lakeside: see if you can crank the engine over by hand (i borrowed a socket that fits over the end of the crank). I only noticed it was a problem when a nasty grinding sound was heard. So dropped the sump off (when on the stand), hammered that lip down and beat a hemisphere into ribbing. Cutting the lip may fix the problem tho, it would depend on where the crank protrudes into the sump. We were kinda in a building frenzy so we just hammered it down and wacked it back on.

chevy_253_torana: engine powers to about 5200 5300 when i shift. 3rd 4th take about 100 rpm more. Pushes to 5500 but doesnt make much power. I do hillclimbs so didnt go for a higher rev range. If you were going to be drag racing i might suggest a lumpier cam. im not too sure about how hard the springs are as I got all the prep work done at the engineer's. around $650 for the head to be reco'd; new unleaded /oversized valves, heavy duty springs, guides etc.

another example is this one on car domain : http://www.cardomain.com/ride/650948

lakeside: if you've cut the lip off the top of the divider in the sump then you should be right i think as i think efi-202's only just hit on the lip anyways so yeah ...
