Good news - Am looking at throwing some 235/60/15 under the back guards of my lh they have been rolled but unflared, It currently has 205/50/15 on it. I trial fited a mates 8 inch weld with a 4 inch backspace and it sat in quite nicely so looks like im going to do a swap with my 15 x 8 with 3 inch back space. This way i can get some good rubber in the guards.
Bad news - Seems hard to get a decent street tyre in the size of
235/60/15 or ant thing similar
Can anyone recomend a tyre Brand model in this size ??
Also any recomendation for front tyre as the currents are 205/50/15 on a 7 inch rim, thinking maybee 195/60/15 or 195/55/15
Any help would be great
Thanks

(not sure on the front..there is no white letter T/A in a 195/60 off hand and the 205/60's are on back order)

I just got some 235's but they were the very last ones and are on back order now..and these ones are already spoken for. 225/60's and 245/60's are on back order here as well.. I am loading containers right now, but if any more happen to come into stock or my tire guy some how can pull them in from another store (big maybe since he already did on the bunch I got) I can let you know if you like !

That would be great, definately let me know if you come across some.
Not specifically after white lettering but if they had it i would black them out and run them on the inside.

I have a pair of Yokohoma 235/60/15 I am looking at changing to 225/60/15. They are brand new and about a year old.
They are to go on my front 8" simmons.
I am in Sydney- feel free to PM to discuss.

On my semi daily driver LX I run 235/60/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street radials. Absolutely magic grip. As long as you are not a burnout king you will probably get up to 10,000 road Ks out of a pair.

With that little mileage you might as well have something soft and grippy.Wont be doing to many KM as the torrie is like my second toy car so would be lucky to see 2-3000 km a year. Is only running an aussie 4 speed so too much grip may be detremental to its survival. Didnt think the ETs would last that long. Certainly want a decent tyre.
My last set of ET Streets lasted 14,000km. They were well past the wear bars at that mileage. Cruising doesnt seem to wear them much at all, only the full on attack stuff. Magic in the wet too.

Was talking to a M/T supplier and he said something about the E/T's being ADR approved for street but if an accident is cause due to the tyre then you don't have a leg too stand on, just what i was told.
These are the tyres i bought.
26x8x15 for the front, they are about 225x60x15.
And the equivalent to 295x50x15's for the rear.

I will get onto Tony (panel/paint guy) and see if he has had the tyres fitted to the rims and taken any photos under the car and post them if he did.

What was the compliance, the DOT approval?

they are DOT approved in the states but not here AFAIK, technically illegal on Aus roads
They are legal for road use in victoria.
I wanted a clear cut answer to this question after uncertainty was raised by the SR program inspector.
Rang vicroads who directed me to the rim and tyre association as they rule on this issue.
A set of 235/60/15 MT ET street radials were presented for inspection by myself and deemed legal for road use.
Rather painless process.
