Hi fellas, are 186 and 202 rocker covers the same? We fit a 186 cover to a 202 assuming they were the same shape but we found the front and back rocker are rubbing on the cover (you can see the cover bending in and out)

Has stock rockers.

So yeh are 202's different?

The only difference that I know of is the 1973 202 rocker covers did away with the riser tube for the PCV valve and from October 1973 onwards HQ & LJ rocker covers had the extra hole for the positive closed crankcase ventilation breather to the air cleaner. Other than that they seem to be the same shape & size as the 138/149/161/179/186 rocker covers.

Additionally, AFAIK the 1972 LJ 202 XU1 had the same rocker cover as the LC 186 XU1, but that said they both had the same cylinder head and adjustable rockers.

I'm currently running a chromed 1973 (pre October 1973) 173ci (non adj rockers) rocker cover on my 202 with adj roller rockers with no clearance issues.

In a nutshell, the answer to your problem is :dontknow: .

Glue two rocker cover gaskets together for a smidge extra height

Pretty sure its stock cam, and its not hitting on the top of the rocker cover but on the front face and the rear face. It doesnt seem to be tapping on it but rather its touching it all the time but as it moves up it pushes out more as the cover is on a slight slant.

So yea, quite confusing... will take off the cover and get pics.

This is a genuine rocker cover, not an aftermarket jobbie??

Had an old chrome rocker cover that came off a 186 popped it on a 173 and all of a sudden had a weird miss.
Rocker cover was ridding the valve gear making it miss.(Head scratched several times and a few words muttered)
Geometry of valve gear must be slightly different.
