will a banjo last? or is it better to use a cut down commodore Borg Warner or 10 bolt?
i would like to use HQ stud pattern and fit modified GTS wheels, but it is not essential.
any input is greatly appreciated.

Get a 9" for around $1000 and it will last years or get a commodore diff made to suit for around $7-800 with around 300,000 original km's on it and it will last another 6 months or get a 10 bolt and baby her around for a while.
If your on a budget get the Commodore BW if its just an average 308 it will hold up, but your limited to pretty much a 3.08:1 ratio unless you fork out another $500 for a set of gears plus install.

Obviously you're not gonna be lifting wheels or anything but you won't break a Banjo half way through a gear with even a worked motor, so if you treat it nicely off the line and don't give it any strife through shifts, you can still drive like a maniac and it will keep working.

Knoath, this is the secret. if the diff is in good condition it will last fine, if you just drop a old on in then the chances it will die are there. So it will be fine. I have never had one blow up yet. it all has to do with maintainence.... How long has it been since people have checked there diff oil? Seriously, you change the engine oil religiously yet many people will have never checked or changed there diff or gearbox oil then wonder why things break, and of cause that then means it is the diffs fault not the owners???Gee Matty....I got a banjo in mine out of makka's car and it chirps all day....no sign of whine or wear yet, all I did was replace bearings and change oil, guess I should take it easy? It is a 253 though....
Cheers
