Hey fellas here is my LC in much need of some TLC. The previous owner was gonna send it to a metal recyclers so i picked up for cheap! my plan is to turn it into a tough little 202 drag car nothing to serious just some good cheap fun and an opportunity for me to learn some new skills! I hope my attempts at repair work doesnt offend you guys just cant afford to pay some one to do it for me. Here are some pics

As you can see it has been mini tubbed at some stage that was the main reason i bit the bullet and bought it!
here is the inner sill section that i have replaced as with half the floor pan . I also cut away above the floor pan as i needed to get right up the top of the chassis rail as it was full of mud that had set like concrete around the bolt that holds the x memner to the rail and there was also a rusthole in the firewall. It took forever to clean out the chassis rail and i have now treated and painted the good solid metal that was left.
Here is the inner sill-floor before work

and after, i still have to put some seam sealer over the welds. everything is nice and rock solid now so im stoked! I looked everywhere for a donor inner sill but they were all either starting to rust and were really thin or they were farked :furious: I fabbed up the inner sill piece out of flat 1.6m steal so its thicker than original and butt welded it in with a backing plate to get a nice solid join which i achieved. i filled the channel in the existing sill with a solid half circle of steel and welded that in to meet flush with new section i welded in

next step outer sill panel and sill end behind front guard. the lower front guards were stuffed with a whiskas cat food can and then bogged over :banghead: Its times like these i wish it was daylight saving here in adelaide as there is not enough time to get stuck into it after work anymore. Il keep the updates coming if you guys wanna follow my progress as i go :clappin: thanks for reading fellas

looks like your on the right track mate.. it really does look like a pretty good shell compared to some. i know my 4 door was much worse but it has family history and a torana is a torana and they're all worth fixing.
keep at it mate i like your plans for it. and get some more pictures up of it! haha

cheers

Hi Tim...Keep plodding..Im in the same boat as you..It seems I have more rust though :P
Im finding its fairly easy to make/replicate the rust sections as you find them..Im learning as I go...
Im new to this as well, but being a sheet metal worker/sign writer..Im used to making funny shapes.
Your shell is in Ok condition....

thanks Mike mine s prob worse than what the photos suggest. I have rust in the chassis rails, door pillars, guards are #@$^%&, radiator support and valance also shot but it can all be done. i also need a rear window repair section but from what i can gather the rare spares one will not cover what i need to replace as mine is rusted right down to the bottom of the channel if you know what i mean. slow and steady wins the race they always say :clappin:
