Hi All,

I'm 30 and haved loved Torana's for half my life! I began when I was 18 with a UC Hatch and the progressed to an SLR 5000 (not genuine) but it hardly matters when you only 20!!!!

After ten long years, most of it living abroad I returned to Australia and after a six month wait I found my pride and joy. A genuine one owner LX Hatchback in great condition.. I bought it off a 96 year old man and he even gave me the original owners manual. It is a manual six and is as standard as the day it left the factory. It has 129000 kilometers on the clock and I paid the princely sum of $5000. It is not fast, does not handle particularly well but gives me the most immense amount of satisfaction when I take it out for the weekly cruise....

What I am curious to know is what sort of value do you place on a car like mine? You always read about the A9X & SS Hatch values, so what about your standard models? Are they appreciating too?

This is my first time using the forum and I just wanted to say what a magnificant site this is!!!!!!!!!! It's great to read all the articles and know that there are lots of people out there who love Torana's just as much as I do...

Cheers

Dev

PS: I intend to keep the car forever and hope that I can one day pass my pride and joy onto one of my children..

I would say it is worth around $7500 in excellent condition. If it was in concours then perhaps up to 15K depending on desirability ie colour, features, history etc.

Yeah they are definatly going up in value! post some pics of your ride and we can tell you what its worth....

You just have to look across the net and the trading post and you can see the price our our babies rising!

(it may be the fact that a Full 120litre drop tank in these are almost worth $200 alone just for the petrol inside it!)

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll find many interesting reads in here :) Lots of hours spent learning about our great cars!

I think the prices of all classic aussie muscle cars is going up, Even the standard models of cars are fetching a higher price than twhen they were new ! ( Relative $ terms!)

I think any hatch is a good investment.. If you can find a "desirable" car like an SS or something then your set!

Cheers!

I recently paid $2000 for a 4cyl (last licenced as a V8) hatch. No motor, no gearbox, full good cond interior, bad paint and rust in all the usual places but still in good condition. Also paid $1700 for a 6cyl hatch rolling shell (no bonnet, interior, drivetrain etc) with all rust cut out and repaired, here in WA.

And was told by a good friend who is a total holden nut (and owns a workshop restoring holdens) that these were good prices.

For something that is in the condition your discribing, id have to say definately more than the $5000 you have paid!!

PICS!!!!

I paid $4500 for a driveable complete but unrego'd hatch about 3 years ago. The body is pretty good all round, nothing too major. Back then i thought i paid top dollar (it looks just like my first car, couldnt resist!!), but now in retrospect, was'nt bad money for what's now sitting in the shed.

Hi there,

Thanks for all the replies! I have just moved to Sydney and don't have any pics on me right now but if you have a look in the new 'HOLDEN' magazine (the one with the A9X on the front) you can see a picture of it in the 'ALL HOLDEN DAY - CAIRNS'. It is the little blue Hatch at the start of the line.....

Cheers

Hi John

Yeah, One belongs to Mr Ireland (Irelands Holden) and the other I am not sure.... I was at the show the whole day and saw eight hatchbacks in total... five in the show itself and three there for a look!!!! Was nice to see a strong representation by the Torries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Show was well organised and I can't wait for the next one.

Cheers

Dev
