202 engine weight

gday all,
just wondering if anyone can confirm that the 202 xu1 motor is supposedly only 20 kilos lighter than a bog stock 308 motor.just looking at weights in a lj torana,and i know you need engineers report etc

From what I know, the red 202 comes in at 250 kg

Use the search this has been covered many times, and it not anywhere near 250kg, probably about 180kg complete

Somewhere around 150-160 kg seems to be in the ballpark. It will depend on how the engine is dressed.

I can not remember where the following figures for the 308 came from or whether it included manifolds, alternator, starter, flywheel.

308 dry 495 lbs/225 kg


The difference between the kerb weight of a 6 cyl SS and a V8 SS is published at 30 kg. It would be reasonable to assume most of the 30 kg is in the V8.

If you subtract 25% from the 308 engine weight (the extra 2 cylinders) it should work out about right. Also depends on what valves are fitted.

depends if the oil is on the add, or full too..
