LJ Bench Seat

Hey all.
my lj has a front bench seat the rigid kind no layback function. 2 questions. i was told you could get these benchs's to lay back but i dont know whether it was a factory option with the lj's. my other question is, has anyone seen an attempt at grafting the lay-back mechanics from a kingswood bench to a torana bench? surely it wouldnt be that hard, just shortening the shaft to fit the lj seat?
and yes im fully aware of how random it may be to go to all this trouble for a bench seat. i recently did a 4spd conversion and used a tonner shifter to accomodate for it, so i figure ive come this far. why not go a bit further.
