Does anyone know if the front suspension of the lc torana's was painted in a black other than GMH Black?

Ive been stripping mine back to bare metal and under all the dirt and crap it appeared to be glossier and tougher than GMH Black, i know the suspension hasnt been rebuilt because it still had the original rivited upper ball joints and that its been off the road since 93'.

cheers, Kev

With all the knowledge in this forum there must be someone who can confidently say which black paint is on the susp of the lc torana's.

If i could find something in print i wouldnt need to ask but there doesnt seem to be anything out there about suspension components etc.

Are you trying to get exact concourse original, I am doing the same at the moment with the FC. I think the origonal paint is a semi gloss black and was pretty thin.
Since my car is modified I am going 2k gloss, its easier to clean and handles brake fluid and chemicals better. I am just trying to decide between black, silver or white.
There are different brands of gmh black and the finnish varies from brand to brand but its cheap nasty ready to go paints I wouldnt bother with after stripping all the parts back to bare metal.

FCCOOL, yeah, im going for concourse finish.

Im pretty sure its gmh black but some parts of my suspension was really thick and appeared more glossier than the crappy gmh black!

stop looking everyone

The colour used on all those suspension parts was call " chassis lac"

Unfortunately it is now obselete so the alternative i used was spartan black off the shelf from my local panel paint suppliers.

They suggested to achieved that semi gloss look was to spray straight off the gun, which i did and it all looks excellent

You end up with that glossy look but not the buffed and polished finished

Hopefully this helps anyone else.
