Im hoping someone on here has weigh bridged their LC or LJ with the V8 in it and preferably a 9 inch diff.
I want to put 10 inch wide rubber on the rear of my LC but engineer said i cant do 10 unless it weigh 1400kg or more, but the most i can go at the moment is 9 inch wide.
The wheels i want to get have a 8-10 week wait and i dont want to order them if its going to 1300kg or less. The engineer said i can put some sand in the boot, but i cant see me fitting over 100kg of sand in the boot. Lol.
Any help on the weight of your cars would be great.

My lj was weighed 2 weeks ago and is 1225kg 308 turbo 350 9 inch and a chassis kit. My engineer told me I could only go 1.5 inches wider than widest fitted factory, I can't even put 8 inch wheels on mine

Rim size, in QLD atlest, is allowed to be 2" higher and 1" wider than stock.

But, in QLD atleast, if you fit an aftermarket diff, ie a 9", then your allowed 2" higher nd 1" wider than stock for that diff.......

Cheers.

My engineer said that aslong as the track isnt moved more then 2". But said that if i use a shortened 9" it will be fine coz its tubbed aswell. I guess if i just get 9" wide rims i can tuck them higher in the guard coz i'll have more clearance on the sides.

Usually they go by either the factory weight in the manual or the RTA have their own weights they use

Never heard of an engineer working off a finished weight with or without bags of sand in the boot

He said I had to have it weigh bridged before he does the final inspection. I'll email him again tomorrow for confirmation again. I had to do the same with my old datto I put a sr20det in.

Not sure what your engineer has told you, but if you 10" on the back then you can't go any narrower than 7" wide on the front. The difference in rim width between front and rear can be no greater than 70%.

I didn't want 7" wide rims on the front so I went for 15x6 on the front and 15x8 on the rear. You can fit a 275/60r15 on a 8" wide rim no problem.

Mine is 1125 with the alloy V8 and stock diff. Hooks up just fine with the 6" Hankooks. Wondering why you feel the need for such a big tyre?

Hmm...RTA and my engineer didn't want to hear about weighbridges etc etc at all. It all went off factory weights, the engineer just asked me what that weight was and I told him off the top of my head and he was happy with that.
This is still amking me humm and harr over how porky my lc is compared to others.
Running EFI 5L, BW78 diff, T700 and chassis kit, yet it weighed in at 1380kgs with a full tank (and me in it so take off 80kg)
I guess the 700 is a damn heavy box but people running lighter ones also have 9"s and still weigh in more than 100kg less than mine? The only other thing I can think of is that I'm running steel 16" rims. But you wouldn't think that would account for an extra 100kg difference, would it?

BW 78 is FA lighter than a 9". Actually heavyer if you fit an alloy carrier.

Cheers.

Finally a month later and engineer replied, maybe coz I reported it to Rta that he's not answering calls after I had already paid him. But yeh. He said 18x10 is fine aslong as I have no smaller then 7" wide on front. And also said aslong as I don't cut into the chassis, I can trim the lip but not cut into the boxed area. so now I'm just waiting for cheapest wheel prices.

1230 kgs, 308. top loader, 9 inch (alloy centre) mini tubbed, 15 x 5 front, 15 x 8.5 rear. If your engineer wants a weight bridge ticket, weight your car with a few largish mates in the car!! lol

Lol gearex, or a pick up a few big fat bush pigs walking along the highway. lol.
Its weird about the weights and width, coz i found it on the rta site and it said 9 inch wide aswell. But the engineer said he'll do 10 inch wide. I'll see what i can fit under it easily tomorrow when i take it to good year to get measured up before i order wheels.
