I have had my Brown Davis drop tank for a trouble free 32 years. IMHO they are the best.

I built my car on a student/part time wage budget... I felt the pain BAD until I saw the tank and fitted it.

Every dollar well and truly well spent.

I'm another big fan of the Brown Davis tanks, exceptional build quality. The prices are insane these days, but that seems to be the case for everything.

Slow boat from China ?

Kidding
I've not heard too many bad reports about them
Just be specific with your requirements and make sure they send the right thing
There always seems to be a delay... sometimes a long delay

Did they mention that you have to remove to rearward existing tank mounts before it will fit?

That looks great and a quick look at E-Bay shows the strap type drop tanks selling for $1550 pp.
I am looking at one of these down the track and in relation to Statler's comment above; how does it fit up - what is required to make it fit?
Also, has BD amended the shape to jump through the roadworthy issues re: rear departure angle?
Cheers, TB

$1600 ?

Wow....I don't have that brand, but amazing what a price difference there is from what I had got mine for ($550 from memory) a few years back.

Pictured tank above looks the same shape as my 30 year old version. The tank bolts through the rear 'rails' via the 4 mounting tabs (undrilled in the above picture)

I payed $600 in the early nineties for the Monaro, it was from bond roll bars in auburn , i remember they had the torana tanks and some had the chev sign pressed into the sheets before they got folded.Im pretty sure there not around any more. Rare spares were selling a price engineering drop tank at the same time for $290 without the set down for the fuel sender.

$1600 Holy C#ap.
No wonder everything is made in China today and Australian manufacturing has made itself obsolete !!!
Paying $420 fitted for mine (early 80's) seems somewhat cheap.

So it looks like you didn't remove the original tank mounts and just pack out the tank , this is what I had in minde looks good . I thought it would sit lower .or is how they sit on a hatch ?
Was the original hardware long enough to get through the rails , ?

Looks nice Im going to fab up some dummy straps out of stainless and fitt them to the tank before i fitt it up just to have that look as below .

It only takes 10 mins with a thin cutting disc on a grinder to remove them neatly... and it looks much better sitting tucked up flush. + it will be easier to align and secure the tank correctly if you remove them.

...Easy to keep them and weld back on if you reaallllllyyy want to change back to an original tank.

They do sit quite low, I think that pic creates a bit of an illusion brcause of the angle its taken from
