Hi just noticed today that top tank on radiator is split and leaking on vy V6 2003 auto . How hard is it to take out the old one and install a new one at home ? Do i need special tools ? Any help or suggestions much appreciated . Thanks

Im just gonna have a stab, but remove the shroud, few screws removes the fan and the radiator has 4 clips (?) holding it in. Iv done it quite a few times, takes 10 minutes and dont need anything special.

being a v6 it will have a thermo fan that can come out attached to the radiator, being an auto there will be 2 oil lines attached for the trans fluid, there are 2 clips at the top that you need to remove and the bottom mounts, you slide the radiator upward there are no actual fasteners there, sometimes they require a wiggle. quite a simple job to do yourself

$100 sounds fairish, why would they bother otherwise....... 2 guys, 2 hours would be a lot higher than that price..

Not hard but the condensor is clipped to the front of the Rad so when you pull it up it clips itself back on again. Oil cooler has rubber seals on it so make sure they go back on. No bolts holding the fans in just clips. Not really hard at all

they might mean the need it for 2 hours, rather than its 2 hours labour.

Very easy radiator to replace save $100 and do it yourself. If you do, make sure you don't lose the little copper washers on the trans lines that go to the radiator, it will leak trans fluid without them
