I've got an alloy wheel that has what looks like corrosion in spots under the clear coat. Any got an tips for removing the clear coat and polishing the rim. Whats a good coating to reapply to the rim?

Pay someone to do it..You will find polishers in most large cities, trouble is it makes the rest look ordinary. About $40 a wheel.

Various grades of wet and dry finishing with something around 2000 and plenty of elbow grease. Followed up with perhaps Autosol polish which I believe works best with an old flannel shirt or at least a nice soft rag.

Perhaps not the best example but a rough idea. I could have done more hand polshing but this is all by hand no mechanical aids or buffers

If you have access to a lathe and a spare axle it would be easier.
I did a set of jelly bean mags that way.
Wet and dry to clean and remove the blemishes, autosol to polish them.
When i had a good finish, i gave them a coat of pressure pack clear to keep them that way.
That was about 23 years ago.
Still look the same today, yes i still have them and haven't had to do anything but wash them since.
Been using them on my trailer for 10 years.
