This is one of the reasons I love working on Toranas, the great people you get to meet.
Last month I made contact with a guy selling a Carbie on Gumtree, only problem it was in SA. Unlike ebay, Gumtree is mostly a local pick-up only deal. When I mentioned I was in WA he was more than happy to try and get it over to me.
1st attempt was he would be flying over in a few weeks and could deliver it, this idea fell through due to a sickness in the family.
2nd plan was to post it to his son in WA which he did after ringing around and getting a good price from a friends transport company.
3rd then his son surprises him and shouts him a trip to WA to be here for Fathers day.
4th so now the guy picks up the carbie from his sons and hand delivers it to me last night.
What a great guy and I'm sure this whole resto will bring many more great moments.
He new a lot about Strombergs and graciously shared his knowledge.
Cheers
Marty

Gotta love Torana enthusiasts, what's one done for you?

I received an email this morning from Crag, AKA Wot179, in response to a wanted add for an original Holden thermostat housing I placed here on the forum for the GTR.
Can I say a warm thanks to Craig to going to the trouble to respond to my add, not only did he respond but offered me the housing for free despite my willingness to pay.
To Craig, thanks mate......
"Cheers"

Pops SS gave me a dissy bolt spanner. He took it off ebay & wouldn't take any money or postage for it.
I hope I can repay the favour one day.

I'll have to get back you about this subject when I'm near a PC. I could go on for DAYS in regards to the help, assistance, generosity and overall willingness to lend a hand with the Torana folk I've dealt with over the past year and a bit. Just know that I am SUPER thankful for everything that people have done for me.

This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
A really big thanks to all those who give their time and parts to other members, you guys rock. I look forward to repaying the favours as I too learn more.
The more Torries we save the better. Means more parts made by RSP and others so that these cars can live forever.
Long live the Torana
