Hi all...
Im after some help please...
Ide like to date/identify the rims that are on my 8/70 LC GTR XU-1..
They are the LJ XU-1 type Globe rims....all 4 have the same numbers, markings.
Im pretty sure the PT.NO.601351 is correct..the "3" is hard to read.. could be a "Z" and not to sure if the last digit is a one or just a scuff.
They have "Globe" chrome bearing caps with a red and blue stripe.

Mike

G/day Mike.

There should be another number on them that you haven't posted. Mine have all the markings yours have but they also have D229 on one and D133 on another. I haven't had a look at the rear rims to see what they have on them. Bought my Sprintmasters in 1984 or 1985 (can't quite remember now) so I'm presuming D133 and D229 are the date codes on two of my rims which I interpret as D = 1983 or 1984, 13th of March and 1983 or 1984, 22nd September. Not 100% sure if that's the date codes and how to read them but would really like to find out.

Do your Sprintmasters have the rim size cast into the spoke web on the face of the wheel?
Yours look like they could be early 80's manufacture.

Cheers
Dave.

Yeah check the spokes for a stamped, not cast number.

The first picture may help you out.

Look down into the bowels of the spoke.

As you can see this one is dated 81. The D25 number is most likely a batch number.

The 10R you refer to is actually TOR for, you guessed it, Torana.

I am no expert on these later rims (Kockum's post) but the 81 = 1981 early rim had a serise of dots cast round the the year ie 6 dots = June eleven dots = Nov this was the first two build dates of the 72 wheels. The D25 + 25th day of the month and the D = day shift. On the these later rims I expect the 25 still means 25th day but maybe the D = 4th month. Be good to see an image of these marks on mikecatts rims.

I had another look..
The numbers inside the spokes are 1488.... and 86...It seems my were not made in the 70,s..Looks like repo ones from the 80's....
What are these worth to sell with tyres?
Mike
