Guys..

Was out yesterday and lost pedal pressure on my Clutch pedal as well lost fluid from the Master cylinder.

Question is...Is this a common problem with the Hydraulic setup ??

Was new when I rebuilt the car..approx 5 yrs ago and car has probably only done a couple of thousand kays.

After having a quick look I found Fluid was running down onto the clutch pedal as well running down the firewall
(gotta love what brake fluid does to paint)

Worth recoing or just get a new one ???

Not super impressed considering it hasn't done a great deal of work.

Since they didn't have clutch hydraulics... I assume its a Hadfield or other conversion kit

Post up a pic of the master please

I'd just kit it if the bores OK
Only 2 seals
They flatten out from sitting around... so nothing unusual there

Being a cheap Chinese cast iron one the bore might be alittle sad
If you pull it apart and the bore looks spot on... couple of seals will do it

If not... get it sleeved in stainless... costs more... but you'll only ever put seals in it forever after

Seal part #'s are
P983
P2925A
P4445 boot if you want to replace that too
These are industry PBR numbers and should be readily available

Or... ask for a kit for a P5491 old Holden clutch master cylinder (EH-HR era)

Neil, that's not a cheap crappy Chinese cast one, it's a cheap crappy Indian cast iron one & the bore was very sad the day it left the factory.

Dr Terry

Yes you can & it's the best way to go.

If you can get a new one with a stainless steel bore, go for it. Otherwise just fix yours.

Wasn't too bad ..cost $185 all up for both sleeves plus new seals.
