????? too wide?
track is the same all the way through from vb-vl tmk
vn is 5mm wider from memory
if you can find a vk big v8 sals they will cope a fair bit of abuse

VL track is about the same but the diff is wider as the rim offset is different so you have to be careful what wheels you have, VN is 40mm wider from memory.
Best bet, but a long shot is to find a VK B/W diff or second choice would be a 308 Salisbury from a VB-VK.

I used a VL V8 diff in my VH. It is a bit wider but I have no clearance problems with the Walkinshaw rims.

You will also need to modify the tailshaft.

The BW has more ratios available and will be cheaper in the long run, especially if you want limited slip.

Best bet, but a long shot is to find a VK B/W diff or second choice would be a 308 Salisbury from a VB-VK.

VK Borg Warner (edit: which is 25 spline 2 spider only) is exactly the same width as VL, just a different centre offset by about 30mm. Either will fit VB-VL with pretty well no clearance issues, any minor width variation is really just due to disc brakes. VN-VS is approx 40mm wider as stated, much easier to get 28 spline 4 spider (since all of these are) but not many options to get wheels to clear without modification.

Borg Warner is a good option but 3.7:1 ratio quite hard to come by (3.91 a little better but still not overly common). Factory limited slip centres are OK for street use but won't last long if you give it a hard time.

Large Salisbury is a good diff too.

I saw a 2.6:1 LSD VB-VK 10-bolt at a scrap metal yard not long ago. I just walked past it as it was no use to me! They are out there, but most will need rebuilding nowadays, and 2.6:1 isn't much use to anyone short of a 1-tonner tow car with a big cube V8 and auto (or the odd A9X!).

Here you go:

Or this one, just needs centre (and tailshaft of course):

I put a VN diff in a VH once, had to roll the lip on the rear guards a little so it didn't rub, wasn't hard to do...

As far as Commy diff widths go, here it is. VB - VK series 1 rear track is 1414mm. Series 2 VK and VL is 1440mm. Those measurements are with rimm offsets of +43. L34 and A9X rear track ( rim offset is -6 ) is 1443.2mm for comparisons sake.

That'd be for 6cyl VK Chopper? V8's should have stayed the same as the diff didn't change mid series?

I don't think it exists on their radar? Its an Aussie Holden unit as far as I know. They call the Borg Warner a 9 bolt (it was fitted to some Camaros etc I believe), but to them a 10 bolt is the Chev diff. Those GM numbers are definitely US diffs, not sure where they fit in but I don't think there is anything that crosses over as a direct fit.

The HK-HG 10-bolt and 12-bolt are both Camaro width GM diffs but axles, tubes and perches were done here (at least for the 10-bolt, 12 bolt axles may be Camaro c-clip items). I can't remember which the 10 bolts were, possibly 8.0". But as above, the HQ-VK 10-bolt Salisbury is a GM-H only item.
