Gday all.

Just lettin yas all know that the LJ (2 Door) Rolling shell that i bought off HB1200 is going to be stripped (if thats possible) and converted into a racercar.

I am aware that, being a 2 door, i should hand it off to someone willing to make a streeter out of it, but the car isnt fairly screwed anyway.

I will be taking off all of the panels that arent welded on, and using the panels off of a couple other LC/LJs (wrecks) as replacements.

http://www.gmh-toran...?showtopic=5803

There be the link, the car in question is the LJ at the top. I'll let you guys decide wether or not that its a good idea for me to be wrecking it for racing...

he is just stirring ya mate!
the only panels you will be able to unbolt will be the boot, bonnet and doors.
sounds like a good plan, but why not fix the 2 door and use your 4 door as the race car?

Because i dont have a 4 door..... I will be taking the front end off and swapping with my other LJ.

Thats why i bought it, to use the Guards and bonnet.

we were planning to use a VC Commo for our next racer, but the LJ Shell is a perfect start for us.

looks like you have probly saved it from doing nothing, and sitting in a paddock untill theres nothing left but rust.

so you may aswell make a race car :D

do u mean a speedway car?

Everyone that sees the car and doesn't know its history will think you're a dickhead because they will have imagined it as a perfectly strait coupe owned by a little old lady who only used to drive it to Church each Sunday.

But if anyone knows where the car came from, they won't give a rats arse because it doesn't look like anything would happen with it anyway as Nathan said.

dirt trac is similar to speedway, but with more corners Nathan.
looking at the pics it would take a fair bit of work to get it on the road anyway.

Is it just gonna run a six?

i know what you mean heath when my old man was a young buck his mate bought a genuine xy gtho phase 3 car (shell no motor ) it was a wreck the whole front end was smashed so he got the i d tags off it for his xy they then took the shell to the tip well a few years later rumors floated around oneday a different one of dads mates was telling him of a so called perfect nick xy gtho phase 3 was parked and left at the tip?!?!?!?!

this also means theres at least 1 dummy xygtho in existence !!!

was red with gold stripes however the bloke who dsid it knew his frauds and had every single option that was on the wreck on the newie (no way of telling )

cheers chevy ;)

Yeah, taking the guards of should be fun, but I'd rather do that then try to panel beat my original guards and nosecone out...

You can look at the pics and see that the car isnt good for much.

Dirt Circuit is similar to Speedway, but as makka said, you turn more corners, and not just left.

It will run a hot 202, and will be painted "Purr Pull", the same as my road LJ.

Ill give more specs and build pics etc when we start workin on it (gotta get the road Torry goin first)

have you ever seen the biante series i mean they are good to watch but every time ive watched it too many go in stacks circut racing on tarmac would be better mate and more fun than dirt but probably more expensive as well another option is drag racing

No, Dirt Circuit is the only option. it really is. the nearest drag strip is an 1/8 mile track 100km away. and there is no tarmac track for ages. its going to be a dirt circuit car. thats all there is to it. we are on a pretty tight budget, and things break in Drag racing. also, you only need a 350 Holley'd red six to be competitive in DC.
