those the ones that reflect light making em unreadable?
if so i heard they work...but are illegal so the cops can nab you on that instead
a clear coat of paint or 5 with metallic glitter is spoed to work as well...and be virtually undetectable too boot

Highly Illegal and you will get nabbed as you can see them from behind,
The officers of the law will throw the book at you for trying to evade.

Yep there illegal if u get caught I was thinking your more likely to get done for a flash for cash then a cop seeing them what about mounting your rear plate right under the car say where the fuel tank is on like a hinge that worked both ways so it would move it it hit anything would a camera see it down there? The ones from above that is cheers.

Which plates exactly are you talking about? I bought some so called reflective beads from the US a couple of years ago and they didn't reflect crap. There is one product that works though. It comes in a pressure pack 'block it'. Sadly it was confiscated at customs. Until there is another way ill stick to by Beltronics Sti and Trapster :)

The number plate frames that block the plate are pretty obvious to the copper driving behind you, not worth the risk really.

I;m sure like Quag said, a couple coats of some reflective paint (similar to what they use in the blank sections of the plates) across the numbers, would have the desired effect

Will only work if the car is registered, if the cops pull up behind you and do a plate check?

Some cars have plate encryption cameras that do the rego check for them.

A rally racer used to do that......drive around all week, then switch the plates to the identical rally car on weekends to get to events.......didn't end well.....

I know a few people that do it, one has 3 different cars, all near identical in presentation, just with 3 different power plants under the bonnet.

Realistically, with the dropping of rego labels next year onwards, it will be easier to accomplish.

I personally think thats the way it should be.

If I have 4 cars, I should be able to register all 4 under one set of plates and rotate them between each car, there is no way I can drive all of them at once....

I have used the "Number plate on the hinge under the bumper" method before and that works great and is not illegal as far as I know (This is for the front). When the car is still it hangs down for all to see, but when you are driving it folds up underneath the bumper, fooling the camera.

i used to "bend" mine to confirm to the shape of the front bumper
although this is illegal...."tampering with plates" or something

As far as I know, the cameras (in NSW) only take pics from behind, apparently due to privacy reasons (are they saying they employ stalkers at the RTA?), they can't photograph your face.

Awesome idea, I'm in the same boat, 2 cars - 1 driver.

Since I got the Mustang I nominated the Torana as a low km driver (twice a month average) and LSV said that this alters my insurance policy and they'll refund me the difference (I paid yearly), previously it was on 3 times per week usage.

I dont think this is the case any more. (I've heard the rumour a number of times)

But there are many "both ways" speed cameras operating that shoot the front of the car.

Plus, heavy vehicle cameras actually make a point of photographing the driver. It allows them to prove that one bloke has been driving over his regulation hours and that they didnt swap driver etc etc.

The from behind thing (haha) was more for motorbikes I believe (no front plate)

Yeah, I've seen those at bridges and they're on the oncoming side.

I've noticed many red light and speed cameras are only faced in certain ways that can only get you from behind, i.e. on highways around bends with a barrier wall separation, they usually have another camera on the other side of the road a hundred or so metres away to nab those going the other direction.

I think that is an old wives tale, what happens if you are in the photo travelling the opposite direction, or crossing the road, automatic cameras do not have a facility to counter this.
IMO it comes from the original red light cameras which had a bright flash that would dazzle a driver if a front facing photo was taken.

The only place you are entitled to privacy now days is in your own house, not even safe in your yard.
Cameras legally can not be pointed at or focused a place of residence without the windows and doors digitally blacked out.

BUT I believe it is still legal to be naked or have "relations" on your own private property? regardless of who can see?
