That rocker studs and guide plates will be the next bending of the truth, this guy is ruining this forum for people that are new to XU1,s,they will read his crap and believe some of it unfortunately.

Maybe because he does not own a XU1,he will try to damage the XU1,s reputation, on this forum

God HELP our younger generation that show's interest in theses models Craig. :surrenderwave:

It would be really useful if a file of all those GMH release documents was available in a complete file, then things would be much clearer

The whole purpose of this forum as far as I knew was to learn from each other, not score points.
If the Odometres do prove to be metric then I have learned something this time, which would be a good thing, I certainally have given a great many people the benifit of my experience in the past.

Hope this helps with your confusion?

Mike

mike i see in the post a couple back that you say some people chase points,,, im sure you would not like me to go and dig up some of your old post...
and why you are looking for the answer to the hand brake warning light can you tell me why the 73 BATHURST oil pump was so special and also is there a date code on the timing cover???

cheers gong

I hope you will not be putting that rubbish in your book?

Mike

The pot calling the kettle black.

FYI I have no aspirations or desire to write a book about Torana's or any other automotive subject.

And yes the changeover to metric speed signs commenced on 1 July 1974, and from memory it took pretty much all of July to complete the changeover. It's a bloody long time ago so please forgive me if my memory is a little scratchy.

I went into a instrument service centre in 1977 to have some instrument work done on my XU-1 instruments and was told that it was not possible to purchase the old imperial gauge facias and there were regulations against fitting many old style instruments parts.

Mike

Me thinks someone told you some porkies or maybe WA had different regulations to the rest of OZ.

I don't believe they would have used a crappy looking decal on a speedometer in a new car or spare part speedometers but who knows for sure.
More likely most of those conversion decals were dealer or owner fitted.

Hi Guys,

I know this thread is old but was hoping someone could tell me which speedo cable I would need to go from an M20 box to a dual type speedo dated 9/73? (see below)

I'm changing it over and keeping the original tucked away. I was ready to just stick the old cable in (120 MPH type) until I saw there were at least two different types of cable with different cogs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Chuck

The speedo cable didn't change, only the speedometer.
