Just finished wiring up my Electric Water Pump today, which I have also connected to my thermo fan.
The fan was previously running off the DC electronic thermal controller, and worked fine, however during a test run today the fan didn't come on even though the 'Fan' LED was lit on the controller (indicating it should be running)

In re-looking at the instructions, I noticed that the wiring diagram for the connection of the fans indicates BOTH the red AND black wires from the relay connected to the battery POSITIVE... previously the black was connected to earth. [Refer figure 5: http://www.daviescra...UCTION 8020.pdf]

This may be the reason for my problem, but I just want to confirm it's not a misprint before I go & cut the wires....

I've sent a message to DC, but not sure when they return after New Years, and I'd like to get it sorted ASAP.

not a misprint
you have two circuits in a relay, the coil which when energised pulls in a contactor, so that has a positive and negative side in this case 85 and 86 and then the switched side that carry the heavy current 30 and 87 to the motor

The green wire (with black stripe) from the controller is the earth. The EWP& FAN controller doesn't switch power to the relay it switches the earth to operate the relay.

OK, so sounds like it's ok to wire up as per the diagram, and hopefully that fixes the problem...

just removed the impeller, and put the pump & pulley back.

haha, those instructions on the EWP sucked me in too, I had to read it a few times to get my head around if it was a misprint.
I think its wired that way to add redundancy. If the EWP unit fails, the fans and pump run on full.

It's turned out to be a very good setup on the chev.

is it as simple as pressing the impeller off?

that was my intention, but i ended up using a 'renovator' & cold chisel to split it & pull it off - but yes, it is that simple
