A friend from the NSW Torana Club sent me these two photo's today about Ron Hodson's A9X torana. This was his personal car until it was sold. The photo's were taken in November 1977 and you can see in the background of the first photo about the release of the new HZ holden. Not sure if this has been posted before, but does anyone know what happened to this car?

Yeah, fancy painting Rory the Lion on the side of your A9X. Apparently this A9X was fitted with many dealer options because Ron Hodson was a holden dealer. Extra SS stickers, fog lights, mag wheels (which I reckon look awful), centre roof aerial etc, etc.

Yep, I know exactly where this car is, and it only has about 12,000km on the clock, it's just a shame the owner didn't see these pics before he decided to get rid of some of the things on it. It looks pretty ugly, but I'd try and return it to that look if it was mine. This bcar is the one listed as pres test in the Eric Blair book

Thanks for the information about the car RED A9X. Have sent it to the webmaster at the NSW Torana Club. He was the person who sent me the photo's and was inquiring about the car. He was checking his slide collection when he found these two photo's that he took in November 1977. Time fly's doesn't it.

Red, if its only got 12,000ks on it, I would but the chrome bumpers on, but GTS rims on & get those decals of it!!

Not a good look in that pic !

ok I found a couple of pics of the car. These were taken in about 1996 on a club run. The car was sold to someone else not long after this and he still has it last I heard, but it looks more as it left the factory now. Sorry the pics are not great, but it's easy to tell it's the car.

I wouldn't say molested, if you got one today and did something likre that to it, well, maybe but it's all easily reversable vinyl stickers and bumpers

The A9X sticker on the back in the second shot.... what's the story with that?
Was that just made up for the car? Haven't seen one before.

Great pix....

Liam W - Yes I was in Street Machine in September 2005 (my smalll claim to fame). The offer came out of the blue as they were looking for occupations of people with cars.

knoath - I believe the A9X rear sticker was made by the dealership, not a geniune holden product. It is larger than the SS sticker but I reckon if you own a A9X you would be a very proud owner. Regards Mick.

Anyone else note the rego on the 1977 pictures? A little juggling of the numbers would make a nice 'custom' rego plate. :spoton:
