I just spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday at turn 9 where the action is great stuff. I just miss the Muscle cars ( GT falcons, Camaros, chargers etc) that are no longer running, where have they gone? Even HQ racing would have added spice.
I like all the classes there but the event just needs a bit of nostalgia.
Also unfortunately Ken Block had multiple mechanical failures which was a let down. Apparently our Aussie clean fresh crisp air was too much for his turbo on Thurday!

I believe the new blood will help the sport
And look forward to a couple of other makes coming along... maybe Toyota who have been running NASCAR with a V8 for awhile... and Chrysler maybe
6 cars in the field were Fords , 4 Dattos and 3 Mercs
The rest were all Commonwhores... how boring is that watching the same thing go round and round
Bring on the newcomes I say

The current formula will never give us the same action as we had with Group A racing, but at least with 4 or more different makes, you will see different cars performing better at different tracks and in different parts of tracks and different times of the race, which is what makes it interesting.

it might help the amg mercs if they put an accelerator cable on it and do away with the drive by wire shit
and it will still come down to the following
best driver
best tyre wear
best fuel management
best pit stops and strategy
luck!

I guess you weren't around then. Go back and read how people ditched the sport in droves. The crowds were going down rapidly; the cars that were supposed to be cheaper and stop the Group C homologation arguments ended up ridiculously expensive; and who was going to shell out that sort of money to race in a recession.
I've been around since series production and Tasman F5000 days, and this is called progress. And the crowds indicate they are doing something right. Though they can ditch Ken Block next year and replace him with F3's or FFords I reckon.

I think due to the Top gear festival that is on this weekend the Touring Car Masters are a feature for that event. Unfortunately I presume it was too difficult to have them at both events.
I was disappointed they didnt come too!

I'd prefer to see the open wheel cars back. Good development of younger talent. The Formula Holdens were great around there years back. Formula 3 would be my preference now.

I thought this was funny, Shane Van Gisborne doing an interview with channel 7 in the Stone brothers pit with the new team owner looking on, a new definition for uncomfortable perhaps?
For those who don't follow Shane, Stone Bros racing are currently taking legal action against Shane for breach of contract so imagine how annoyed they are that he won and the interview was in their pit area

Wonder what Betty is typing into her phone......?
Actually, I was over in the pit area just before the driver's parade yesterday and saw Gis having a long (and friendly) chat with one of the Erebus blokes. Both were having a laugh. Who knows what is really going on.

I was around but only young.
I mean when they had Commodores and Falcons and BMW\s and Sierras and Nissan GTR's etc etc.....late 80's and Early 90's
That was group A right?
I used to like it as a kid, but obviously didn't get into the political side or care about the financial side of it back then.

Maybe, but it is an awesome class of racing. Interesting that Walkinshaw Performance has put Nick Percat there this year instead of doing another year in Dunlop series. Patrizi has also gone that way with Tekno support. I reckon it probably develops racecraft better. Bairdo is poetry to watch driving those things.
