What polish do you guys recomend for Weld Draglites? ,I dont want to ruin the finish on the wheels by using a polish thats wrong or too abrasive?.

I have some of that " Wicked Metal Polish" is this ok?   http://www.tradetruc...al-polish/36965 looks like my wheels are starting to get corrosion on them even though the LX is in a garage and hardly driven....

Numerous forums, guys are saying Mothers Billet Polish is good stuff, are these paste type ones abbrasive though ( like Autosol)

They must be Clear Coated!? , I couldnt find that Billet Polish so ended up buying  Mothers Metal Polish and tried it, they look better but theres marks on the wheels that wont come off ( I only did 1) There was a dog from our street that use to come and piss on my wheels, some of the marks are from that and will not come off.

Is there a specific polish that should be used on Clear Coat Wheels??, I didnt know they had clearcoat until I tried using this.....

This is what I bought,  http://www.summitrac...parts/mot-05112   ive just read all the fine print and it says"If black or dark coloured residue does not quickly appear during use STOP Your sureface is not a polishable bare metal"  I did get some black on the rag but not like when I had the old Armolites

The draglines are polished aluminium without a clear coat as delivered. So unless you have coated them they are bare metal. They do oxidise slowly and need intermittent polishing. Either meguiars aluminium wheel polish or brasso seem to do the trick ok. Not sure how to get the urine discolouration off-I got the pros to do my stained ones.

Mothers Mag and Aluminium polish

its a very fine polish so any marks take a fair bit of work to get out.. but once done your rims will look great.

I've had good luck with Mother's brand as well...(that is what I used on my wheels)

(for the best polish, especially on really oxidized/bad ones, I have second hand ones done by a local polisher and they come up with a mirror finish)

The Mothers Billet Metal Polish isn't as common as their Mag and Aluminium Polish but its the only thing I use. I have side-by-side it compared to Purple, Autosol, Brasso, Mag & Aluminium Polish, AutoGlym etc etc and, imho, it  simply gives the best finish of all for non-coated aluminium surfaces (ram tubes, drop tanks, wheels, roll cages etc )

By the way, here is a set I had my local polisher do (before I had sent them over there to sell)

http://www.ebay.com....4-/281111398400

They were pretty average looking before hand, but he uses a variety of machines and compounds of course..once they are polished up, it is much easier to keep them up of course versus trying to get a badly oxidized set done from scratch by 'hand'.

I have never tried one of those... heard from a couple of people who also had decent luck with them on stuff that wasn't toooo bad to start with at least.

Makes quick work of rims, I use the hand foam pads for the smaller stuff.

Looking to get a set of weld draglites maybe in the next few months.  Would clear coated straight from the spray can do the job and how would you tell if they have already been clear coated?

I would think the clear might tend to yellow or change color somewhat ?  I would tend to just keep them polished (that is what I do with mine) if you are started with new, or freshly machine polished, keeping them up is not all tooooo bad.

That said...I was talking to the powdercoat/sandblast guy I use a few weeks ago and he had mentioned about a clear powdercoat they have used on some things. No idea what it looks like, but if it could be done over freshly polished stuff, that might be a little more robust than spray can clear coat?
