I doubt that it would be strong enough for a descent V8. I broke a couple of teeth off mine with a Chev V6 in a Bundera.

They were pretty much the same centres from 81' up until about 2006.........this link might help http://www.toysport....tifications.htm
This link has all the Trans/Axle Codes for all Toyota Vehicles....ALL Toyota Cars have a code ie: G252 on their compliance plates to help identify its centre size, the ratio and finally whether the diff is an open or LSD centre. This makes it really easy to pop the bonnett, grab the Trans/Axle code and decifer whats lurking inside without having to remove the centre to check the ratio or whether its LSD.
These are a popular diff with the rotor guys, and handle heaps of abuse. I am still undecided as to whether I will eventually run one of these diffs modified to fit my LC. I did measure a LN106R Hilux diff once, and from drum to drum I think it was only about 10mm either side longer than the LC Torana diff.

All the 2wd diffs from around 1980 are about the same width as the LH/LX/UC diff. Plenty of ratios, I think that a 3.2:1(or close to it) is now available out of the current Hilux. The Hiace also uses the same diff not sure on the width. I've had mine fitted for a number of years still using std Hilux axles.
stretchlc the diff out of the earlier Hilux (pre 1980)is within 3mm of a std LC/LJ banjo.

The LN106R diff I was refering to is a 1994 manufactured vehicle............I guess it makes sense they widened the vehicles as they improved them. I've had a lot to do with these diffs, as I used to work at a 4x4 and Commercial Auto Dismantler here in Adelaide in Gepps Cross. We used to get lots and lots of these diffs come over in Shipping Containers from Japan. So it seems we might be looking for an RN40 series Hilux housing assembly with a late model 4 pinion LSD centre in that case.
I've never heard of one of these breaking, although in the Hilux vehicles............maybe its a cheaper alternative to both BW and 9 inch......and a lot lighter too.

Got a mate who ran 12 in a full weight LJ with one.
Another lad on here runs very quickly in a nitrous fed 202 powered anglia with one.
They can handle a hot Holden six, so anything a dirty V8 can throw at them should be childs play. You didnt specify what you wish to put infront of it.
Cheers.
