I have purchased all the parts for my airconditioner unit.. however am wondering about performance loss.

I heard that i may need to install a V8 radiator into the car just to ensure i loose no power and to keep the cool air there. Is this true?

Thanx guys

you may need a larger radiator, depending on what you now have, but a V8 one won't be any good, the outlets are in different places

If the engine runs too hot you will lose power, but if it gets to that stage we are talking about melting pistons, seizing pistons etc. Otherwise if coolant temp is maintained below 100C, the size of the radiator will have no effect on the performance of the aircon or the car.
The UC aircon model had a v8 chev radiator fitted(otherwise known as the HZ taxi radiator), thats with the outlets on the same side as a 6cyl radiator. This with the front mounted 12in electric fan and engine clutch fan ensured good aircon performance and low risk of overheating the motor.
See how your system goes b4 replacing the rad, Ive got 2 uc's with aftermarket ac that run the smaller 6cyl 3 cores and they cope fine with the aircon in the heat of summer with just the engine clutch fan.

devilsadvocate is right 6cyl rad and chev V8 have same outlets.
check to see if the previous owner has upgraded the radiator to 3row (core) and or heavy duty 2row which has more fins.
if your present rad is in good condition it may be up to the job reguardless of size but if you have fin deterioration or blockages best to budget for a new or reconditioned 3row.
