Just re-kitted my 350 holley with Holley Fast Kit.
Back on the engine, start her up, didn't get an even idle so went to make some adjustments...instead found that there was fuel all over the holley.

Pulled it off, gave it a check over etc and put back on. Start the engine, rough idle again. Inspect; pull off air filter - smoke present itself from the barrel chamber. Air filter got fuel on it, top filter cover has some gunk on it...

Not sure what is going on...help please!

sounds terminal, you should sell it to me  :P

Seriously though, I have no idea what could be causing the problem.

And last time I heard that thing idle it wasn't very even anyway. :spoton:

Where do you reckon the fuel is coming from? How can it shoot upwards?

check your timing and float levels
if they backfire then fuel can go "upwards" due to pressure

My thoughts would be stuck fuel float or non sealing needle/seat.

I had something similar to that after a rebuild.... Mine was a leaking power valve gasket. Mine had half the gasket still on the power valve when the new one went on.

Thanks for the tips, thinking its the float, power valve should be good - only the one gasket :)

I can now say with certainty it was the float. I did also find on the power valve 2 new gaskets! Bloody things were stuck together :/

Cheers again.
