Not 100% relevant here, but I'd appreciate any help anyone can give.

I have a 76 camaro thats been converted to RHD. It came with a 350 chev and t350 box, but I'd like to convert it to a rock crusher 4 speed if possible. I can get a manual pedal box easy enough, but as far as I can tell from my own reading it's a manual/rat trap kind of setup. Seeing as the pedals are on the wrong side now, I'm guessing a hydraulic or cable setup will be a bit easier.

How would I go about setting up either of these? Would I be best using a bellhousing from a holden that came with one? Or I was thinking about using a custom bellhousing like this http://www.ebay.com....=item257d16c7ec and then maybe I might be able to get away with the standard rat trap kind of setup.

Any thoughts?

Yep for least fuss I'd go Quartermaster hyd slave concentric bearing, preferably in a kit with an aftermarket underdash master to suit the hyd ratio and line; then you just need any bellhousing that fits the engine and gearbox patterns. M22 rock crusher is of course same pattern as M21 / 'Aussie'.

Muncie bolt up pattern is not even close to Aussie 4 speed. Muncies are the same as a lot of GM boxes (T5s, Saginaws, T10s etc but not necessarily all the oddball Holden and Ford variants).

Factory bell housings exist with clutch fork holes on the right, some are set up to go either side. A bell housing will be easy to find in Chev pattern at a much lower price than that. The Muncie I have even has the speedo drive on the right side of the extension housing.

Having said that I am a fan of the hydraulic thrust bearings so you can't really go wrong with that and it does give you more options with the bell housing.

I have almost the same set up. M20 muncie with rat-trap hydraulic clutch set up. I have a slight problem with the clutch fork being 5-10mm too long. I will try and take a few photo's for you tomorrow as I need to sort this problem out. Bellhousing is a CRS bellhousing drilled to muncie/saginaw pattern.

I have had this car off the road and getting built for 14 months, spent quite a bit on it. Only just heard the engine start up in the car last week and this is the only thing stopping me from driving the car on the road, very frustrating.

To clarify, I was trying to say that a M22 Muncie gear set could be used in a gearbox designed for M21 gears (if the sound is the main reason).

Yes but a Muncie M21, not the Aussie 4 speed (although generally similar in design they are two completely different 'boxes)

Gonedeaf will wait for the photos as I'm not sure what you mean by the clutch fork being too long. Maybe just a mismatch between the fork and bell housing...?

I have M22 gearset in my M20. While it hasnt been driven yet I had a gearbox mechanic that has been working on these gearboxes for 40 years build mine and he said it went together nicely. I only went this combo because I wanted gear drives in my engine but was told to steer clear due to the harmonic vibrations. I then bought the gearbox which needed a rebuild and a couple of new gears, so I just bought a brand new gearset from the states and had it installed by this guy.

Its the thing I am most looking forward to, hearing that wine through 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

You could just use a Dellow Chev/308TH to Muncie bellhousing with RH side clutch fork, and bolt on a hydraulic bracket pushing a 253/308 clutch fork. Nothing at the box end is hard, getting the hydraulic master will be a bit harder. You could also buy a whole kit from the US like in the attached link, and mod it for RH drive, or just buy the bits, heaps on Ebay, just have to look.

Yeah mate no prob. Bought the gears from fourgear trans, link is below. Bob was a fantastic help to me. We must have exchanged 30 or so emails about different things, like what type of oil I need to use and so on. I couldn't recommend a guy more. He even went to the trouble of posting the gearset in 2 separate boxes for me to save a bit of cash. The gearsets look top quality too.

Gear sets are also available here from the people that make them.

Cheers for the help everyone. I'll see how I go, I think hydraulic with aftermarket pedal box is looking like the go.
