I don't think it's quite that simple.
LC had Roebuck headliner and AFAIK early 1972 LJ also had Roebuck.
Herringbone headliner was introduced during 1972.
Roebuck trim continued on into early 1973 with Herringbone Headliner.

yep ribbed was used in lc - i dont even get into when they changed over
never seen roebuck with ribbed tho - maybe it was when they changed or near to when they changed
Someone will have reference to it, personaly you would think roebuck with roebuck

Are you guys sure then when was the ribbed one used in toranas
Seen ribbed in an original lc gtr
No, I'm not 100% sure. But I'll bet John Gong will know.
My 2/73 has Roebuck trim (40X), ribbed hood lining. It had ribbed & it appeared to be original, certainly was rotten enough to be original!
Another XU1 can of worms?
Your XU1 trim and headliner is correct. Not an XU1 can of worms at all.

Maybe some late LC got the Herringbone headliner , however no LC ever had long grain vinyl.
What about the sun visors? Roebuck or ribbed?
Sun visors match the headliner.

Sun visors match the headliner.
Some "experts" think and no other wise - my beleif is lc never had long grain either but then an expert comes along and says there lc is factory and its long grain
There has to be some books or reference on this somewhere

hi lc gtr and xu1 toranas come out with roebuck head linning gong asked me the same question a few years back when he was restoring his 71 bath xu1,
how am i so sure, i have a 71 bathurst xu1 in my garage which is 100% original and unrestored and a 1 owner a brissy built car
i also own a smp 1/72 xu1 and the headlinning is the straight linned one, also a brissy car, and never been replaced
saying that ive owned many xu1s and yes the head linnings were different yet again i put this down to upholsteres in there day refitting new headlinnings being fitted ?????????
i hope this helps u

Aldo,
What about late gtr and XU1 LC? or early or is there no such thing as late or early in gtr xu1
This is what i know and have been told also that they had roebuck headlining - however it gets messed up when people come along and say nope mine has the linned (ribbed)
if we had documentaion on it then you could say right this is what it was from factory

It's amazing what you find when looking for something else.
GMH Dealer service letter December 1971 advises that all vehicles produced on and from the 1st January 1972 will now be fitted with molded foam sun visors to comply with the energy absorbing ADR.
Now AFAIK all molded foam Torana sun visors have a Herringbone pattern vinyl coating, so it stands to reason that all vehicles produced on and from 1st January 1972 have matching Herringbone pattern headlining.
Cheers
Dave.
