I'm trying to fit the drivers door handle, my problem is that the holes have elongated & now the standard screw doesn't bite into the door skin. Using a larger gauge screw will mean modifying the hole in the handle.

Can someone pls give some advice or suggest somekind of clip I could use for a thread in the door & use the standard screw?

Cheers, Sean

Only things I can suggest is either weld up the holes and re-drill them or get some 1.2mm thick sheet metal plates and fix them to the inside of the door panel (not the door trim side) with pop rivets then drill new screw holes through the plates.

Sounds a bit dodgy I know but if you don't have a welder.........

Hammer and dolly the section flat. Or gets some plastic push in clips the square ones used in late model cars to hold the inner door handles on and file the inner door to suit the clips.

Cheers Dave

My car will be on the market in the coming months & will probably come up for discussion on this forum so I should say now that dodgy fixes will not be considered!

Cheers!

Though if your planning to sell it i seriously recommend chewing gum, hit it with a heat gun it goes nice and hard.
