I was flicking through Norm Darwins Torana Tough book and noticed the production numbers for the LX sedans fitted with 5.0L (I guess most are SLR 5000's) excluding the hatchback and A9X.

I was very surprised to see the total figure of 5.0L sedans at 812 units?

Compare this with the LH SLR 5000 production figure of 2580 units. LH 5000's should be a dime a dozen compared with LX 5000's, but is that really the case these days?

Are these figures correct?

I don't know Hanra, but im suprized to see how many LX sunbirds were produced!

I wonder how many of the 66 odd thousand LX torries produced still exist or currently under resto. Would guessing one third still exist be a reasonable estimate for non SS/SLR/A9X and two thirds or more for the premium models?

I never noticed this, what about 4cyl Toranas in tha total? These are still non-Sunbirds but there is no figure for them? I think some of that 2.8 and 3.3 split might be 4cyl LX Torana and Hatchback prior to Sunbird release.

Those numbers were discussed a while ago in regard to the low 5L SS build of 135, seemed very low. Looking at the table again it says production estimates and also content data dated 1976. So I thought maybe they are just some numbers from 1976 but that theory is wrong as they include A9X.

hmm...good one Brad....something to ponder on a rainy weekend (AGAIN!!!),

Looking at Norms book and the table you showed on page 227 ..............

The total surprise number for me is the 135 units of 5.0l hatches???..there is the reference to the data being from 1976.
The same table also shows 65977 as the total LX prod.

Then on page 280 there is a LX Coupe ADR late example...shows the 12-77 car as the 61283rd LX produced.

This would give credence to the TOTAL LX build of 66000- ish.....thus in turn giving credence to the 135 5.0L coupes (oops, sorry HATCHES! ).

hmmm?
