They are ok for commodore's and cheap enough but if you want 1 for a LC-LJ Torana i used a chisel and grinded in the middle the thickness of the door pin and that is just as good and cheap aswell.

One of the few occaisions that I had to work on an LC/LJ, I knocked the pins up with a hammer to the bottom of the hinge, then got needle nose pliers under the bit on the top that popped up, and applied the hammer to the underside of the needle nose pliers. Worked a treat, just need somebody to hold the door while you do it.

I believe the commo and gemmi doors have hollow pins.
Youll have to do what^^ said, i ended up cutting the top section of the hinge off as it was rusted in, that bastard was never coming out, so i introduced it to my air saw. hehehehe :furious:

if you can, try to keep those original door pins. bought some repro pins from rare spares and they ended up being a couple of thou too wide for the door hinges. took a lot of love to get them to fit. hammers, lube and patience...

Heres one not so well know fact..well..it might be...Rare Spares LC/J pins are made 4 thou bigger to take up wear..or they are just slack on measuring them...dont know..but they go in about a third the way then the heads bend when you hit them..turn them down 4 thou and all is bliss.

Angle grind an old screwdriver after smacking the pin with a\hammer and use the sawn off screw driver as a punch to knock he pin out

yer there tuff too remove , but i think the original gmh tool is no good
to you! 30 odd years have passed there stuck rusted in. and less the original
owner oiled the hingers if your lucky :D the gmh tool tends to snap the head off the pin then you have a pin thats stuffed , heat small oxy flame and pin punch is the way to go and plenty of onox or some wd40 a day or to before

When you do get the old pins out, replace them with VN/VP commodore pins which are very similar to a roll/drive pin, they are a perfect fit and then you can use the pin removal tool as shown in first post, also they are easier to fit, remove and lubricate as they are hollow.

I have them fitted to mine and love them.

Cheers Matt

I made mime, get either one of the steering coupling mounts (column or rack)  from an Lc or Lj. Slot one of the holes to the outer edge and weld a 6 to 8inch bar into the centre where the column/rack shalft would have went. Works a treat.

hi john ,is there much movement  when you lift door up and down,a good indication is if you have to lift the door for it to shut, though had a mate thought his was dropped until i pointed out he didnt tighten the the strikers when assembled after painting.
