Started a Torana build back in November 2012.
After many sleepless nights thinking of engines drive line packages I finally settled on what I have and the build is well under way after signing the engineering paperwork to start it's all system go as of late last year.
Bought the 1978 UC as pretty much a roller minus engine and gearbox ( was 6cyl ) with a bodgy paint job it came with every part just all wrapped and packed. Which won't be getting used as all it will get all new interior etc etc etc
Firstly I found a good local car fabricator and from there it was out with old diff and chop time.
with some small set backs the rear now has a 9inch diff with 4.11 gears truetrac 31 spline axles. Its is now in place with adjustable upper arms, adjustable lower arms and has a nice set of QA1 adjustable coilovers
Guards have been cut and stretched a little to fit the big rubber 28x12 MT sportsman s/r which are on 15 inch Convo pro rims.
Boot has been cut out and will be dropped a little to house a nice custom made tank still using behind number plate to fill.
Finish up this stage is the wheel tubs are about to be fabricated and rear brakes sorted out.

Up front i have a L98 from a VE SS which is sitting on a pallet. Will be giving a nice cam upgrade and tune to start with :)

I was tossing up with different ideas for gearbox and had my mind set on a 4l80e but full manual with no electronics. obviously tunnel modification were needed but after talking to several builders and calling USA at early hours I have made up my mind.
Fred @ Protrans Sydney be building a th400 full manual set up for me in near future.
So lady's and gents that's where I'm up to with my build to date. hope I haven't bored you Torana lovers out there. Will upload photos as the build progresses.
Cheers
Morro

Good stuff mate, I don't mind a nice clean UC, especially when it's got a bit of mumbo hidden under the bonnet.

Is it going to be a wkend bruiser or track car?

Update going down the UC to LX conversion like i had originally planned. Found Nosecone and inner support now just to find a half decent rear end.
