Which one of these is worth more, the A9X 4 Door, 73 Bathurst XU-1 or L34. Assume they are all in very good original condition with around 100,000 kilometres on the clock.

Which one and why? Is one colour worth more in a particular model?

This is not my opinion, this is just going off current prices I have seen, and it's hard to judge because the cars seen have varied in condition, but I would say A9X sedan, L34 and then XU1, or XU1 and L34 around the same. Colours might come into it if a batch of each were for sale at the same time, but since one of each usually pops up every now and then, colours wouldn't really matter much.

Market Trends would suggest A9X 4 door, XU-1, L34. Just the way it is.

Now if you want to talk capital growth, I think the L34 is the sleeping giant of the three, so I think your going to see larger price rise than the other models in the short term, as I think they are currently under-valued, but then you've got to find an L34 with an actual L34 in it still.

I have to agree there yella, the cars need to be all there to pull good money, and yes, I said it a while ago, I think the L34 will grow in value in the next few years.

^ Yeah that's true. With XU-1s and stuff they're popping up at quite a frequent rate, and colour does seriously influence their value.

And super super rare colours, like Tuxedo Black on an A9X Sedan, lol.

I have never herd of such a thing, do you have a picture, you can now get Tuxedo Black on a numberplate, and how would the A9X sedan have blackouts if it was already black!

Tuxedo black isn't the rarest colour. Aquarious, Contessa gold, they are rare, one of each. Like I said, colours do come into it, but if you were chasing say an XU1, would you say, no I'll wait for a red one if the car you were looking at was a good thing but white???? A few years ago you could, not any more.

How many Black Torana's (not just L34, A9X and XU-1) were built?

Ive seen plenty that have been resprayed black, but i cant recall too many stock black ones. (i know i wasnt alive in the 70's, but still...)

Personal preference - A9X four door first (don't care about the colour), then L34 and lastly 73 Bathurst XU1 but wouldn't it be nice to own all three....(excuse me for dreaming)

there were 11 tuxedo black sedans built (A9X) and the SLR5000 paintout (not a sticker) is La plata Silver. The car pictured is stock and original bar the wheels and tank and it has something like 24,000km on the clock, so it's a damn good thing.

On the subject of rare A9X's, does anyone here own SM's White Pointer giveaway Hatch?

If not, does anyone know what happened to it?

The winner sold it and it's in WA somewhere, unfortunately, from what I hear, the guy who owns it hasn't looked after it. The paint on the race shells was very very thin, and unless it's looked after, you get surface rust showing very quickley.

Red,
Are the whereabouts of cars you mentioned, Aquarious and Contessa, known?
Or have they been lost for all time/crashed?

Hmm, well thats a shame. i know that the paint was pretty thin, to keep weight down...

Why would you own an A9X and not look after it...

the aquarious car was a olden designers car, and was never sold to the public, it's in the museum at Birdwood SA. The gold car is a club members car

The White Pointer A9X was only slightly modded by SM. Drop tank etc. AFAIK.

From memory the white pointer didn't have a tank in it, and it's a race shell, not a road car, thats why the paint outs are different

Aye. I remember that SM asked for an opinion on wether or not they should fit a drop tank...

And yeah, wasnt it like the only race shell that wasnt raced?
