I have what i believe is a bathurst xu1 shell but i dont know what to do with it as it has no motor or gearbox. Will it still be worth anything with out its heart..
Also i only have 2 of the 3 id tags as 1 had to come off for some repares to the front passanger side and has been put in a safe place which now cant be found.
Would HG350 b able to verify if it is in fact a bathurst model from these id's
The body is stamped ALC35109A
The one by the wiper is 2,3,4,5A,7,8,10A,15,20 yr9/71 ALC 35109A
And the hin is 82911CL184680
I have owned the car for prob 10 years and now i have some money to do something about restoring it

Looks like you have an Adelaide built car with the "A" denoting Adelaide and the "L1" on the VIN tag also confirming that.
"9" month 1971 looks farily good to being a Bathurst but hg350's mate Ben should be able to confirm it.
M20 boxes are not that hard to come by and you could use a 186-S motor until you find an original 3100X or CK block.
Good luck with it if you decide to do a resto and as far as the body being worth anything, sure is

What is the original colour ??? Do you know ???
To give you an idea a 3100X block sold on ebay recently for $1700
Good luck with the resto!

pipjones said "They run a CK engine and a 899 cluster m21 box"
This box is not an M21 box, it is known as the XU-1 M20 gearbox & AFAIK is the standard gearbox for all XU-1s (LC or LJ) that have an Aussie 4-speed (Early LC XU-1s get an Opel 4-speed). The only other Aussie 4-speed seen in XU-1s is the 'super rare' box with the 484 cluster.
Is the 'CK' LC XU-1 any more rare, or collectable, than a '73 LJ 'Bathurst', how many of each were made ?
