Okay so I gained access to the plenum chamber tonight , I was surprised that it only took me an hour . And didn't cause much panel damage at all , can wait to rip into the cancer .

Hey Josh,

Just spotted your post and thought I might share my "most excellent" experience getting the Plenum Chamber (or what was left of it) out of my Hatch about 6 weeks ago. I bought a spot weld removal tool and it came out relatively easy. Now I need to have it repaired before it gets welded back in.

As you can see from the pics, with the Plenum all the way out I also have really good access under the dash and side kick panels

Did you need to go this far with yours??

I think that my next challenge is to work out how to get it all back together looking as neat as some of "SLAR's" pics on this post

Cheers, look forward to more pics

Dave

Hey Josh, not sure what others have used but I am tossing up between POR 15 and an equivalent SKS product 'Rust Bullet" , This is a bugger to get off and get good access to so it has to be a once off action, don't forget up under the cover that spot welds over the top and the outside of the bottom chamber while its out you may as well get it fully covered....access is not great once its back in ...... I am sure your all over it   If you look at the paint and panel forums there is a great thread pinned on all these products

see if this link works

Cheers

Yea mate I've already got the panel off and 90% of the rust repaired , but as you say , i want a top notch sealer and paint , I don't plan on getting this panel off in the future
