What's required that I haven't thought of?

100mm clearance all round (still need to check that).

Horn, wipers and squirty, brake lights, headlights, parkers, indicinators all work.

Seat belts, tyres, no oil leaks.

Heater and fan work

Tint removed all round.

AFAIK the brakes and suspension are all new.

Anything else they are likely to look for?

See http://www.gmh-toran...-pottas-lc-gtr/ for the tidy up thread.

I've never taken a car over the pits so not sure exactly what they'll look for.

Eg there are some tears in the roof lining, will I need to patch them?

Do you need mudflaps?

Will I get failed for having torn/split seats?

Do they care about dents/bog/rust spots?

Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

This is not a full resto, just a tidy up to get over the pits so I can enjoy my Torana while I can still buy petrol  :driving:

Cheers guys.

They will jack it up and check wheel bearings etc.
they will also check underneath, for any signs of leaks.

They took my hatch for a drive as well when I took that to Welshpool for rego.

Any unsealed holes in the firewall?

Tears in seats wont be good. Well fitting seat cover usually will be sufficient.

Dents shouldnt be a problem.

Bog not good especially if visible.

They will check for rust in chassis and sill panels etc. If just bogged and not repaired they wont like it.

Would expect roof lining would not be a problem unless its hanging down.

Ball joints wheel bearings and brake test.

My experience with pit inspections over the years was it somewhat depends on the mood of the inspector at the time unfortunately

Reversing lights.

I have had both my toranas over the Welshpool pits in the last couple of years with no hassles. Mine even had plenty of oil leaks, but the night before I went nuts with a few cans of degreaser.

Ripped seats shouldn't be a drama, pick up some dirt cheap covers for them (playboy ones).

Hi Craig,

I remember years ago, they checked the spring on the front disc brake flexi hose,

if you look, there is a hole in the guard above the top curve of the brake hose, the hole is for the spring to drop down from. Dave I

Indicators cancelling, horn working are about all I can add.
I've only taken cars over the pits in country towns & they look at tyres, general cond, oil leaks, lights, wipers. Neither of them cared about noise. :)

I remember I had a small drama as they could not read the number stamped in the guard due to too much paint. So make sure they can read those numbers.

Handbrake adjustment and they can be picky about speaker holes in the parcel shelf.

Sounds great!

Yes I have some.

Yes I have them.

I actually printed out a checklist from the DoT today which I will run through before I go over the pits.

It is here if anyone wants it - http://www.transport...ing_vehicle.pdf

Cheers again for the advice guys.
