Gday guys,

Have just recieved a quote from a paint shop for painting and fitting a flare kit, which I am supplying, and cutting a hole in my bonnet on my LX 4 door.

Was wondering what all the relevant experts would call a fair price for this as the quote i recieved is on the super high end of the scale.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

cheers

I notice you've included the word 'fitting' in there, this could involve a lot of work (and will if the place doing the quote has no idea how much is required or what sort of quality flares you are supplying). Could include cutting guards, adding material to get a nice finish, paint prep and re-paint some or all of the side of the car, fibreglass modifications to flares along with paint prep and painting, fitting hardware...

Just screwing the flares on and painting them is a very small part of the process if you want it done right :-(
(and you know who the only person you can trust to do it right is)

I got quoted $4500, was going to get the best flares available so minimal mods have to be carried out on them. The body and paint on my car is very good so hopefully it'll be a pretty straight forward fit up. The shop that quoted is very highly regarded, have done heaps of flare fit ups and their quality is second to none. Im aware that the job is no easy task and dont have any issues with a high quote but wanted to ask your opinions b4 i commit to any1.

I think for that price the car wants to remain unflaired :)

You know there is a bit of body work involved including cutting, welding and painting the rear wheel arches?

Unless you are fitting pansy flares, you know, the ones people fit but are not required as they only run small tyres...

Well me thinks there is around a weeks work in it, check out Rut's thread on fitting them.
@ $100hr I think 4K to 6K should cover it.

I take it you don't want to do any of the work yourself then?

It's a big job to cut ya teeth on I reckon. I built the motor and have fitted everything else but when it comes to the body work I was gunna leave it to the experts :)

Realistically if the shop is very reputable i think thats an om price.

After all your probably gonna spend that on wheels and tyres to fill them anyway.

Cheers.
