The inside of my chassis rails are full of caked on dirt/dust from sitting in a paddock and just starting to look like a bit of surface rust :(

What is the best way to clean them and prevent them from rusting even further.

I was thinking just a water pressure sprayer to clean them and then spray them inside with rust convertor and then maybe spray inside them as well with a decent preventative paint.

Anybody know where I can get a spray system to get up inside the rails ? I know the profeesionals use a long flexible hose with a special spray hed - can you buy that sort of thing cheaply anywhere ?

or is there a better way ?

Cheers

As above but instead of paint use cavity wax like TEctyl 506.

And yes you can buy the flexi hoses with the head thing from any paint supply store.

Cheers.

If you have a truckline or similar handy, some 5/16" airbrake line works nicely to....THen get a bit of copper/steel pipe, crimp the end, and cut a few nicks in it around the diameter so it blows out sideways. Shove this in the end.

I made a super dooper long one for doing up the guts of 6m long rods at work like that, worked well. Saved going from one end to the other doing half way each time.

Cheers.

To clean it out , try getting a small piece of steel transmission line and squash one end ,then stick it in the end of the garden hose and clamp it .That worked on my hilux.

Too easy - local shop has Sikka cavity wax for $20/can and the proper spray attachment for the can with a reasonably long hose and fan sprayer (called a schutz gun or something like that) for $40.

Didn't think it would be that popular and be a stocked item :)

Every frOckwit on forums is stuck in the 70's and belts on about fish oil.

In the real world cavity wax is rather common lol.

Cheers.

Cavity wax you say Bomber ???

I've seen it on the shelf but I always thought that stuff was for doing gay Brazilians...
