Hey guys, my diff was making a whine so ive pulled the center and was going to rebuild it.. found a resonable amount of pitting on the teeth, some people have said it would be fine other say its only a matter of time... Either way new ring and pinion are not that expensive so while its out I was thinking of changing it. maybe even getting a True-trac...

Currently it has 3.7:1 ratio, TH350 26" tyre. Ive not had much time behind the wheel (not finished/registered) and not been down the track yet so Cant really make a informed decision... from memory 100km top gear was around 3000rpm

Other problem is im not 100% sure what the hi-stall speed is either, I know I did the flash test once with foot on the brake but cannot for the life of me rememeber what it was... 3000rpm seems to ring a bell but not sure.

So thought I would just ask what others are running or what they would recommend? It will be run down the drags but its not a drag car, I intend to drive it on the street alot, Id like a lower 100kph cruise rpm but If its cruising at a lower speend then the hi-stall is it just slipping all the time then and actually end up with worse fuel economy and creating heat?

I was also considering a gear-vendors overdrive but I think it would still create the same problems unless I used a lock-up converter? I have a feeling ive heard people say stay away from lock up converters as they cause problems.

If anyone could offer some insight that would be great or even just let me know what ratios you are running and how you like it?

Cheers

For your relatively torquey combo i'd stay around teh same or even go up a step to 3.5's, in my mind for the occasional strip use but moreso street use 3.5 would be nice.

Im running 3.9's in my LJ, but thats with a 202 and a 4500rpm converter, so chalk and cheese. Realistically i need the short ratio to make up for the huge stall and cam to make it streetable.

Cheers.

Instead of a gear vendors, a T700 would be the go I reckon...lower first gear and overdrive. Can be built pretty strong as well.

Oh, and I run a 6 speed (.50 in 6th) with a 3.5 diff and 25.3" tire. Nice over all combo I reckon.
